Towbar Diagnostics

After the installation of vehicle specific wiring kit, it is sometimes necessary to update the vehicle’s software to enable any inbuilt towing safety and comfort features when a trailer or caravan is connected.

Depending on the vehicle the tool will activate the following features:

  • Trailer Stability Program - detects any snaking motion from the trailer or caravan and bring it back under control using the brakes individually on the car.

  • Fog light cut off - turns the vehicles fog lights off when a trailer is plugged in.

  • Reversing sensor cut off - deactivates the vehicle reversing sensors when a trailer is plugged in.

  • Indicator bulb failure detection - detects if an indicator bulb is not working on the trailer.

  • Adaptive Air Suspension - automatically switches the suspension to towing mode when a trailer is connected. On some vehicles it will also stop the vehicle from lowering itself at higher speeds.

  • Electronic tailgate opening deactivation - automatically deactivates the electronic opening tailgate from the button on the key or inside the vehicle when a trailer or bike rack is plugged in. This avoids the tailgate being accidentally opened into a bike rack attached to the towbar.

Battery support

When recoding certain vehicles it is important to make sure the vehicle voltage is kept constant.

We use a Snap-on voltage stabiliser for any recoding to ensure the coding is completed without any drain on the vehicle battery.
