After the installation of vehicle specific wiring kit, it is sometimes necessary to update the vehicle’s software to enable any inbuilt towing safety and comfort features when a trailer or caravan is connected.
Depending on the vehicle the tool will activate the following features:
Trailer Stability Program - detects any snaking motion from the trailer or caravan and bring it back under control using the brakes individually on the car.
Fog light cut off - turns the vehicles fog lights off when a trailer is plugged in.
Reversing sensor cut off - deactivates the vehicle reversing sensors when a trailer is plugged in.
Indicator bulb failure detection - detects if an indicator bulb is not working on the trailer.
Hill start assist - stops the car rolling backwards by keeping the brakes applied until the accelerator is applied, then they are released slowly to allow a smooth take off.
Adaptive Air Suspension - automatically switches the suspension to towing mode when a trailer is connected. On some vehicles it will also stop the vehicle from lowering itself at higher speeds.
Electronic tailgate opening deactivation - automatically deactivates the electronic opening tailgate when a trailer or bike rack is plugged in. This avoids the tailgate being accidentally opened into a bike rack attached to the towbar.
We are also able to offer diagnostic reprogramming for DIY installations. Please phone for more details about this service.
Complete Diagnostics Remote Recoding
On some new vehicles it may be necessary to recode the vehicle remotely over the internet. Using Complete Diagnostics' remote coding app with the latest up-to-date software we are able to recode a wide range of new vehicles to enable any built in towing features.
